Walking In The Rain
I want to walk in the rain,
So no one can see my tears.
I can walk and cry, and cry and walk,
And none will demand to know my fears.
As I walk the tears fall,
The drops as numerous as the rain.
They run over my nose and cheeks
As an expression of my pain.
And then the rain just stopped,
It went as suddenly as it came.
Left with red and bloodshot eyes,
I go back to being emotionally lame.

Wow, I never realised there was so many people in so much pain before. This has really helped to open my eyes and be more compassionate to other people instead of being in my own little selfish world.
I know you've probably been told this ssooo many times but if you ever need an extra ear to listen, I'm here :). Especially if you need a face-to-face chat, call anytime. Or if you feel like a coffee....mmm, freezacino!! ;op

I just must say that I feel very honoured to get to read this straight after it was written. So nananinana!
Now onto something meaningful...
Katie, you are far from emotionally lame, You are dealing with your emotions & fears and your past. That is way more than most people can say for themselves. You aren't hiding away what you feel and bottling it up, you are dealing with it now and letting people help you. I would say that is the emotional equivalent to being a professional athlete.

Fine, I'll just sing.... 'you make me wanna be brave' - yeah, the only line I know from that Nichole Nordeman song we were listening to at Word the other day. But I did get it in my head after reading your poem - you're not being emotionally lame; you're being brave to confront things and I feel honoured to know you and be some small part of this, and challenged to also be brave *hugs*

Katie, you have such marvelous talent in poetry, and yet it comes from so much pain. Although my best poetry comes from emotion too.
There are gonna be alot of up and down times in your life babe. But when your through the other side you will have a wonderful inspiring story to tell others. Including little Gemea..
